Quilting by Machine
Thank you for your
interest in our superlative design quilting by machine
using a Gammill Longarm Machine, which features
precise stitches per inch. This sate of the art machine
provides wonderful quilting designs. Some favorite
quilting designs for edge to edge quilting are Chantilly
Lace, Double Rose, Feather, Hearts, Cotton Candy,
Blowing Leaves, Wave, Clam shell and for baby quilts we
use stars and balloons. Or we can free hand your quilt
by meandering (jigsaw puzzle type all over quilting). We
keep dozens of hand-quilting templates in stock, which
we use to hand-guide our
quilting machine. You can choose from our in-house
quilting patterns or, if you want a special quilting
pattern, just send us a hand-quilting template. If you
so choose we will be glad to design a unique one for you
for a fee of $20. We can incorporate that quilting
design where you specify on your quilt with our quilting
machine. Below are examples of our
most popular patterns. |

Batting and Backing should be cut 3" but
no more than 5" longer then the quilt's length and
width. Example, if your quilt is 80" x 90", the batting
and backing should measure 83" X 93". If you are sending
your own batting, keep in original packaging and I will
cut to size. Make sure that both the top and backing are
squared with no ragged edges. Cut off selvage on seams
before they are sewn. Selvage seams cause extra bulk and
can cause backing to pucker. Also, press open seams on
the backing, this will help reduce the bulk. It is best
not to have one seam down the back of the backing. It is
preferred to have seams run horizontal to the top and
bottom of quilt unless the quilt is to be quilted
vertically. Contact me if you have any questions.
When adding borders, measurements should be taken across
the center in two or three places for both the width and
length. If these measurements are different from that of
the outer edge, accidental stretching has occurred.
Remember, to keep the finished quilt straight and
square, you must measure the centers. Use pins to cut
down on stretching.
Top and Backing must be pressed and square. Puckers,
tucks and wavy borders CANNOT be “quilted out”. Quilts
will be returned in the same condition they were
received. If your quilt is not square there may be
puckers in the quilting.
Please snip any loose thread and salvages and check your
tension before sewing your quilts improper tensions can
result in weak seams.An
additional labor charge of $15.00 per hour will be added
for any miscellaneous work, example; repairing seams,
squaring up backing, piecing backing. Do not pin or
baste your layers together as they are loaded on
separate rollers. You may decide to use your own backing
and batting or you could use ours. See guidelines and
prices below;
All quilt tops must be pressed before
quilting to ensure the tops are flat and ready to quilt.
There is a $10 pressing charge for all tops that we
press (if it is necessary).
Batting: We have warm and natural
batting @ $7.70 per yard and Warm White @ $8:00 per yard
or you can supply your own, this also needs to be 3”
larger than the top
Backing: We have 108" fabric for the
seam less backing @ $10.99 – $12.00 per yard. We use
100% cotton white on white, beige on beige. We also have
basic colors in cotton blends. If you prefer a
particular fabric, please send it with your quilt top.
Backing material must be at least 3 inches larger than
the quilt top, all around. There is a $5.00 per seam
charge for piecing backing material.
Binding:
Is machine applied/ hand turned @ $1.75 per linear foot.
Preparing the binding from fabric costs $15.00 per hour.
If you furnish the fabric for binding, please make sure
there is one yard. Or pre cut @ 2 ¼ inches wide, ironed
and folded in half, make sure there is enough to
completely go around your quilt
Hanging Sleeve: If you plan to use your
quilt as a wall hanging, we can add a hanging sleeve.
The cost would depend on the amount of fabric used.
Please check with us.
Basting: Basting is normally done just
on the top (as we need to do this to load onto the
machine) however if you need basting on all four sides,
please state this when dropping off your quilt, cost
would be an additional $5-$8 depending on size.
