A. The costs are as follows:
Basting:
$5/sq yd
Quilting:
runs from $ 12.00 to $20.00 per square yard depending on the complexity
and density of the quilting you want.
To determine the square yardage of a quilt take the length of the quilt
in inches times the width of the quilt in inches divided by 1296. Example:
80" x 90" = 7200 sq. in. 7200 divide by 1296 = 5.55 sq.
yds.

*Prices are here for your guidance. Final costs are determined
when you place your order and we have a chance to measure and see your
quilt.
Q. What Guidelines must be followed when I send a quilt to be
Machine Quilting?
A. Batting and Backing should be cut 6"but no more than 8" longer
then the quilt's length and width. Example, if your quilt is 80"
x 90", the batting and backing should measure 86" X 96".
If you are sending your own batting, keep in original packaging and I
will cut to size. Make sure
that both the top and backing are squared
with no ragged edges. Cut off selvage on seams before they are sewn. Selvage
seams cause extra bulk and can cause backing to pucker. Also, press open
seams on the backing, this will help reduce the bulk. It is best not to
have on seam down the back of the backing. It is preferred to have seams
run horizontal to the top and bottom of quilt unless the quilt is to be
quilted vertically. Contact me if you have any questions. When adding borders,
measurements should be taken across the center in two or three places
for both the width and length. If these measurements are different from
that of the outer edge, accidental stretching has occurred. Remember,
to keep the finished quilt straight and square, you must measure the centers.
Use pins to cut down on stretching. If your quilt is not square there
may be puckers in the quilting. Please snip any loose thread and salvages
and check your tension before sewing your quilts improper tensions can
result in weak seams.
An additional labor charge of $15.00 per hour will be added for any miscellaneous
work, example; repairing seams, squaring up backing, piecing backing and
ironing.
Do not pin or baste your layers together as they are loaded on separate
rollers. You may decide to use your own backing and batting or you could
use ours.
See guidelines and prices below:
All
quilt tops must be pressed before quilting to ensure
the tops are flat and ready to quilt. There is a $10 pressing charge for
all tops that we press (if it is necessary).
Batting:
We have warm and natural batting @ 7.49 per yard or you can supply your
own this also needs to be 6" larger than the top.
Backing:
We have 108" fabric for the seam less backing @ 10.99 per yard. We
use 100% cotton white on white, beige on beige. We also have basic colors
in cotton blends. If you prefer a particular fabric, please send it with
your quilt top. Backing material must be at least 6 inches larger than
the quilt top, all around. There is a $5 per seam charge for piecing backing
material.
Binding:
Is machine applied/ hand turned @ $1.75 per linear foot. Preparing the
binding from fabric costs $5. If you furnish the fabric for binding, please
make sure there is one-and-one-half yards. Please, do not pre-cut fabric
for binding.
Hanging
Sleeve: If you plan to use your quilt as a wall hanging, we can
add a hanging sleeve. The cost would depend on the amount of fabric used.
Please check with us.
